Introducing readers to a new, recently added feature that allows Gmail users to see a preview of the emails in their inbox

Since its launch on the 31st March 2004, we have introduced thousands of people to the feature rich Gmail solution.
In the early days, Gmail was a basic web based email service with a Gigabyte of free online storage, but over the last seven years, many different features have been added to it and today's version is virtually unrecognisable from the original.
Today, I want to introduce our readers to a new, recently added feature that allows users to see a preview of the emails in their inbox.
Gmail's POP3 facility allows many users to use it off-line with Microsoft Outlook. These users are familiar with Outlook's split-pane interface and many of them have criticised Gmail for not offering something similar. Well, now they do !
Novice users who are wondering what a "split-pane interface" is can make the following changes to see whether they like this new Gmail feature and if they don't, they can easily undo the changes and return their Gmail back to how it worked before.
This change allows you, simply by selecting and highlighting any of the emails in your inbox, to preview the content of the email - a quicker way of reading your emails !
Sign into your Gmail account and click on the "Gear" icon (a cog in the upper right hand side of your Gmail interface) before clicking on "Labs" in the drop down menu.
Gmail tells you, "Gmail Labs is a testing ground for experimental features that aren't quite ready for prime time. They may change, break or disappear at any time. If (when) a Labs feature breaks and you're having trouble loading your inbox, there's an escape hatch. Use https://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0."
Look through the list of features that you can add to your Gmail account and you will find "Preview Pane" by Peter B & Michael K. On the right hand side there are two radio buttons - select "enable" before scrolling back to the top or, to the bottom of the page to "Save Changes"
If you don't like Gmail's new split-screen feature and decide to return Gmail back to how it was before - simply, return to this page and you will find that the "Preview Pane" feature will appear at the top of the feature's list. To undo the change, simply select the "Disable" radio button before clicking "Save Changes" and your Gmail will be returned to normal.
If the information on this page is useful, you can recommend it to other people using this Google +1 button. Thank you !
When you next load your Gmail account, things should look the same as they did before because the default setting for this new feature is "No split", but now, look to the upper right hand side of the screen and you will see a new icon. If you hold your mouse over the icon, a little pop up message says: "Toggle split pane mode" - click on the down pointing arrow and you are presented with three options, the currently selected "No Split" option and two further options: "Vertical" and "Horizontal" split.
Select either one to enter split screen mode and hopefully, you will find this new feature useful. If you don't, just switch it off or, undo the changes to return your Gmail to normal.
There are many more features that can be added to Gmail, but don't forget, the features in Gmail Labs are in the early experimental stages. They maybe discontinued at any time without warning.
