What is a keyboard shortcut?
|

Keyboard shortcuts are a quicker ways of completing a certain tasks as opposed to using your mouse and clicking through a menu or menus. There are quite a few keyboard shortcuts that can be used within the Windows operating system, but there are many more that can be used from within all the various programs that run within Windows. Keyboard shortcuts for items in a menu can usually be found next to each item within the menu and look something like this - Ctrl+Z which in certain programs is the keyboard shortcut to undo the previous procedure.

Keyboard shortcut to explore "My Computer"

Do you want to access and explore "My Computer" in a flash. No problem! Hold down the "Windows" key on your keyboard (usually situated between the "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys) and simultaneously press the letter "E" key. Hey presto! Up pops the "My Computer" window.

Keyboard shortcut to return to Windows login screen

Do you want to quickly hide your Windows desktop and return to the Windows login screen. No problem! Hold down the "Windows" key on your keyboard and simultaneously press the letter "L" key. Hey presto! Your desktop icons disappear and you are returned to the login screen.

Do you want to instantly minimize a window to prevent others from seeing what you are viewing. No problem! Hold down the "Windows" key on your keyboard and simultaneously press the letter "M" key. Hey presto! The window instantly minimizes.
