Are you experiencing problems finding and typing characters such as '£' signs etc? - then, do a quick keyboard test. Hold the shift key down and press the number two (2) key on the keyboard: does it type 'at' (@) - instead of speech marks ("). If so, your input language is set to 'English, United States'. To change it to 'English, United Kingdom': select the Windows 'Start' button then, 'Control Panel' then, 'Regional and Language' before selecting the 'Languages' tab and 'Details' button. Now, click 'Add' before selecting 'English, United Kingdom' from the drop down menu. The screen returns back to 'Text Service and Input Languages' and you will notice that 'English, United Kingdom' is now also installed. Highlight 'English, United States' by clicking on it and click 'Remove' then, 'Apply' and 'OK' - you will be informed that the change will take place when you re-boot or, log off. That's it, now, try your '£' sign!

Would you like to use the correct 'Turkish' letters when writing to someone, but you don't want to install the full input language and switch between languages when typing?

Click the Windows 'Start' button then, 'Run' and type 'charmap' without the ' ' before clicking 'OK'. Now, click on any character such as - ç, ş, ö, or, ğ and click the 'Select' and 'Copy' button. You can now paste these letters into any word in any document. You can leave the character map minimised on your task bar and call it up at any time. By the way, you will also find the following characters ©, ®, ¼, ½, ¾, ÷, and € etc. If you use these symbols in a document, when you save it, make sure that you save it in 'unicode' format.
