Speeding up Windows Vista with a USB memory stick

How to speed up Windows Vista

With a promised x10 speed improvement over USB 2.0, the USB 3.0 standard is set to hit the shelves towards the end of 2009. With promised data transfer speeds of 4.8 Gbps, transferring data to and from your external hard disk drive or, digital camera is about to become much faster, but mention 'USB' to the average computer user and the first picture that will enter their mind is one of a USB memory stick.
We are all familiar with, and have used a USB memory stick. A convenient way to store and transfer data from one computer/place to another or, backup our important data, but what most users of Windows Vista do not realise, is that they can use a USB memory stick to drastically improve the speed and performance of their system.
XP users will be familiar with the "Autoplay" feature that pops up when they plug in their USB memory stick, but Vista users will notice an extra entry in the list of features (ReadyBoost - speed up my system.) Plug in a compatible USB stick with an access speed of 1ms or less, and this feature turns your USB memory stick into a memory cache for frequently accessed data.
Your memory stick stores data in 'electronic' memory (as opposed to your hard disk drive's 'mechanical' memory.) This data can be retrieved and sent, to and from your computer's processor, up to 80 to a 100 times faster, and significantly improves the speed that your documents and other data can be accessed.
A Window's Vista system with 512Mb of memory (minimum recommended) utilizing a USB stick and "ReadyBoost" can see operational time savings on certain tasks from 12 seconds to 2 seconds, and further, down to 0.8 seconds on a Vista machine with 1Gb of memory.
So, if you are running Windows Vista and find that you are doing a 'fair' or, 'unfair' amount of waiting, plug in your USB memory stick and configure it to use "ReadyBoost." You will be more than impressed with the improved performance of your machine.

We are very satisfied with the new phone system, it has great clarity and the volume at both ends is very good.
We have phoned both UK and USA and the reception on both was very good.
All in all, it is FAR BETTER than skype and x-lite and also, more convenient with being able to have phones in various parts of the house.

No complaints whatsoever with the telephone system. Seems to be working exactly how we would wish it to.

We are very happy with the new phone system, as it is very clear with no delay. Since you fitted it we have had quite a few calls from friends and family in England and all calls have been really clear, as though you were talking to them across the room.

The telephone is fantastic, after struggling with Skype and paying silly prices for the mobile phone for a year we are more than happy to recommend the system.
The reception is as good as a land line and we do not have to leave the computer on. Having the extension phone in the kitchen means we can hear the phone anywhere in the house, great!
